During EBSCON 2025 in Graz, the ChipNL Competence Centre (CCCNL) represented the Netherlands within the European network of Chips Competence Centres.
The conference focused on collaboration between industry, knowledge institutions, and governments, with one common goal: strengthening European innovation power.
Peter-Jan Hendrikx joins BarCamp discussion on European innovation
Representing CCCNL, Peter-Jan Hendrikx took part as a panel speaker in the BarCamp session “European Innovation – How fabless companies allow Europe to focus on innovation.”
The session was organised under the aCCCess project and hosted by the Silicon Alps Cluster, the main organiser of EBSCON 2025.
The discussion explored how the fabless model enables European companies to focus on high-value chip design and IP development while leveraging global manufacturing networks.
Panel participants underlined the strategic importance of the European network of Chips Competence Centres — accelerating R&D and supporting startups and SMEs with access to pilot lines and design platforms.
MOU between Competence Centres strengthens cooperation under the EU Chips Act
A major milestone during EBSCON was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between several European Chips Competence Centres.
This agreement reinforces collaboration under the EU Chips Act, focusing on knowledge exchange, infrastructure access and shared support for European companies.
CCCNL signed the MOU in advance and was represented in Graz by Peter-Jan Hendrikx.
Dutch companies explore cross-border collaboration opportunities
Alongside the panels, CCCNL joined various networking activities and company visits with Dutch organisations including Cosmos BIE, NTS Optel, and Tomoegawa Europe.
These meetings highlighted the importance of internationalisation — connecting Dutch and Austrian companies to strengthen cooperation and trade within Europe’s semiconductor and high-tech sectors.
Thanks to aCCCess and Silicon Alps for hosting and coordination
The aCCCess project and Silicon Alps Cluster played an essential role in organising EBSCON 2025 and creating a valuable platform for collaboration.
CCCNL extends its appreciation for their coordination and for bringing together stakeholders from across Europe to exchange insights and strengthen the Competence Centre network.
Building a stronger and more resilient European ecosystem
With its contribution to EBSCON 2025, CCCNL reinforces its role as a connector — helping organisations share knowledge, open doors and access expertise across Europe.
Together, we are building a strong, resilient and innovative European semiconductor ecosystem.
