On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, the Beethoven Chip Talent Summit 2026 takes place at the TU Delft Aula Conference Centre. During this national summit, administrators, policymakers, educational institutions, and companies come together to discuss the progress, opportunities, and next steps regarding microchip talent in the Netherlands.
The Dutch chip sector holds a strong international position and continues to grow. To maintain and further strengthen that position, talent is one of the most important conditions. With the National Microchip Talent Strengthening Plan, also known as Beethoven, the government, education, and industry jointly invest in training tens of thousands of additional technicians by 2030.
The summit offers an important moment to take stock, look ahead, and guide the development of talent for the Dutch chip sector together.
Programme
The programme starts with a plenary session, including:
Opening by Hester Bijl, Rector Magnificus of TU Delft
Panel discussion with education administrators from mbo, hbo, and wo
Panel with representatives from the technical field
Explanation on the progress of the Beethoven programme and the talent demand in the chip sector, by Hans de Jong, special envoy, and Roger Dassen, CFO ASML, tbc
Presentation on the future of precision manufacturing by the Leidse Instrumentmakers School and partners
After the networking lunch, participants create their own afternoon programme. There are interactive breakout sessions, excursions on the TU Delft Campus and a demo square where innovation, education and talent come together.
Why this summit is important
The Beethoven Chip Talent Summit brings together parties that each play an important role in the development of microchip talent. By connecting education, government, and industry, there is room to share experiences, make concrete results visible, and strengthen new collaborations.
For startups, scale-ups, and SMEs this theme is extra relevant. Especially for these companies, access to talent, knowledge and the right partners is crucial for growth. The summit shows how the joint talent approach can contribute to a stronger and more accessible semiconductor ecosystem, where smaller and fast-growing companies can better connect with education, networks, and future skills.
Role of ChipNL Competence Centre
The ChipNL Competence Centre is co-organiser of the Beethoven Chip Talent Summit 2026. From our role as a national semicon hub, we help companies, knowledge institutions, and partners find their way in the Dutch and European semiconductor landscape. Talent development is an important part of this: without enough well-trained talent, innovation, growth and scaling cannot take place.
By contributing as a co-organiser to this summit, ChipNL CC supports the connection between the talent demand from the industry and the supply from educational and training partners. Together we work on a strong foundation for the future of the Dutch chip sector.
The Beethoven Chip Talent Summit 2026 is jointly organised by the Ministry of OCW, the Ministry of EZK, Talent Platform for Technology, the ChipNL Competence Centre, ASML, and the Beethoven partners from North Netherlands, Twente, Brainport, and South-Holland.
Note: participation in this event is by invitation
